YCS Policies

The Youth Conlang Society (YCS) respects the privacy of its members, contributors, and visitors. We collect only the information voluntarily provided through membership, submission, leadership, or contact forms, which may include a person’s name, age range, country, email address, and submitted work.

This information is used only to communicate with participants, review submissions, manage YCS activities, and publish approved work. YCS does not sell personal information. Information may be accessible to authorized YCS leaders and to the third-party platforms we use, such as Squarespace, Google Forms, Discord, and Instagram, according to those platforms’ own privacy policies.

We will publish a contributor’s name, country, biography, photograph, or creative work only with their permission and, where required, the permission of a parent or guardian. Contributors may use a preferred name or request that identifying information be limited. Members should never publicly share private contact information, home addresses, school schedules, passwords, or other sensitive information through YCS.

Participants may request that their information or published work be corrected or removed by contacting youthconlangsociety@gmail.com.

COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

The Youth Conlang Society is an international community built around creativity, learning, and respectful collaboration. All members and contributors are expected to:

  • Treat others with respect, regardless of nationality, culture, race, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, language ability, or level of experience.

  • Give constructive feedback that addresses the work rather than attacking its creator.

  • Avoid harassment, bullying, hate speech, threats, sexual content involving minors, discrimination, impersonation, spam, and deliberate disruption.

  • Respect privacy. Do not share another person’s real name, photographs, messages, contact information, or other personal details without permission.

  • Credit sources, collaborators, artists, and cultural influences honestly. Plagiarism and the unauthorized use of another person’s work are not allowed.

  • Avoid presenting stereotypes, sacred traditions, endangered languages, or living cultures carelessly or disrespectfully.

YCS leadership may edit or remove content and may warn, suspend, or remove individuals who violate these guidelines. Serious safety concerns may be reported to the relevant platform or a trusted adult. Concerns can be reported privately to YCS leadership or at youthconlangsociety@gmail.com.
